Football Frenzy: Fontaine's 5 Top College Football Picks!

What’s better than starting your weekend off with some gridiron action and locking in some big wins? It’s time for our Friday Football Frenzy, where I break down the top matchups to help you score big with Fontaine's 5. With college football heating up and NFL season just around the corner, let’s dive into this week's can’t-miss picks!

West Virginia (+8) vs. Penn State

We’ve got a classic offense vs. defense showdown. West Virginia comes in with some sleeper buzz in the Big 12, while Penn State's defensive front and strong schedule give them the edge. But, here’s the thing – I love getting over a touchdown with the Mountaineers. Penn State's offense is still transitioning under Manny Diaz, and West Virginia’s offensive line is primed to create those running lanes. I’m riding with the points here!

Virginia Tech (-13.5) at Vanderbilt

Continuity is the name of the game for Virginia Tech, and with 20 returning starters, they’ve got experience on their side. Vanderbilt, on the other hand, is trying to figure things out with a new offensive coordinator and QB situation. Kyron Drones will do enough to help the Hokies coast to a comfortable win. Lay the points and thank me later.

Miami (-2.5) at Florida

Look, I’m a die-hard Hurricanes fan, but let me be real – it’s been a rough decade against SEC schools. But this year? It feels different. Miami's stacked defensive line will cause fits for the Gators, and the edge rushers will keep the heat on. This is a must-win for Miami, and I expect them to handle their business on the road. Don’t sleep on this spread; it’s going to get tighter by kickoff, so jump on it early.

South Alabama (-5) vs. North Texas

This game might not get the national spotlight, but it's a value pick. South Alabama’s offense is clicking with Major Applewhite calling the shots, and the continuity on their offensive line will give them a huge advantage. Meanwhile, UNT’s defense is, well… less than stellar. Expect South Alabama to run the ball, keep the pace, and pull away late. Lock it in!

OVER 59.5 Colorado State @ Texas

The Longhorns will win, but this Rams team won't go quietly. Colorado State’s Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi has a big arm and the weapons to stretch the field. Texas will score, but so will CSU. Expect a sneaky backdoor cover and enough offense to push this one over. Points, points, points!

Friday Football Picks Recap:

  • West Virginia (+8) vs. Penn State

  • Virginia Tech (-13.5) at Vanderbilt

  • Miami (-2.5) at Florida

  • South Alabama (-5) vs. North Texas

  • OVER 59.5 Colorado State @ Texas

There you go, Fontaine's 5 family! Time to lock these picks in and let’s cash out this weekend. Stay locked in for more college football action and don’t forget – you can’t win if you don’t lock!
