Welcome to Fontaine's 5 DFS Breakdown for Thursday Night Football! The Bills and Dolphins are clashing, and we've got all the top DFS plays lined up for you. Let’s dive into the single-game contests, and as always, we do the research so you win the cash!
Quarterbacks
Josh Allen ($11,000 DK, $17,000 FD) is the ultimate dual-threat QB. After a dominant Week 1 showing, racking up 232 passing yards, two passing TDs, and two rushing scores, he’s primed for another big game. Allen shredded the Dolphins last year, torching them for six passing touchdowns and over 650 total yards across two games. With his injury scare in Week 1 behind him, he's ready to lead your lineup.
Tua Tagovailoa ($9,400 DK, $14,000 FD) had a solid Week 1 performance with 338 passing yards and a TD, but his history against the Bills isn’t great. Buffalo's defense is stout, and Tua has thrown three picks in his last two games against them. While Tua has Tyreek Hill to throw to, Allen remains the safer and higher-upside play.
Running Backs
For Miami, De’Von Achane ($9,600 DK, $12,500 FD) is questionable, and Raheem Mostert ($9,200 DK, $12,500 FD) didn't do much in Week 1. Achane is the more explosive play, but his injury status makes this tricky. If Achane is active, he could get the bulk of the work, but tread carefully here.
The Bills’ backfield is more clear-cut. James Cook ($9,000 DK, $12,000 FD) had a solid Week 1 with 71 rushing yards and three receptions. Cook is in a great spot to keep rolling, especially since the Dolphins allowed plenty of yardage to backs in their last matchup.
Wide Receiver/Tight End
Buffalo has an open spot in the receiver rotation with Stefon Diggs now a focus for every defense. Rookie Keon Coleman ($5,800 DK, $10,000 FD) impressed with four catches for 51 yards in Week 1. On the other hand, Khalil Shakir ($6,200 DK, $10,500 FD) also caught all three of his targets and might offer sneaky value. Neither is a must-play, but both offer salary relief.
For Miami, Tyreek Hill ($11,600 DK, $16,500 FD) is a must-play after racking up 130 yards and a TD in Week 1. Jaylen Waddle ($8,600 DK, $11,000 FD) also caught all five of his targets for 109 yards. Both Hill and Waddle will continue to be target hogs, with Hill being the premium choice.
At tight end, Dalton Kincaid ($7,200 DK, $9,500 FD) saw a modest two targets last week, but his snap count was encouraging. Dawson Knox ($2,600 DK, $7,000 FD) also had two targets, but if Knox remains healthy, he could emerge as the better value.
Kickers
Tyler Bass ($4,800 DK, $9,000 FD) was perfect last week, and he’s a solid play given how well the Bills move the ball. He converted eight of his 12 field goal attempts from at least 40 yards last season.
Jason Sanders ($4,400 DK, $9,000 FD) struggled in Week 1, missing one of his three field goal attempts, but he could bounce back in a high-scoring affair.
Defense/Special Teams
The Bills ($4,000 DK, $8,500 FD) were top-notch last year, and they limited the Dolphins to just 20 points in their Week 4 matchup. For the season, they allowed the fourth-fewest points in the NFL. The Dolphins ($3,000 DK, $8,500 FD) allowed the Bills to rack up points in last season’s matchups, so tread carefully if you’re thinking of playing Miami’s defense.
Picks Recap:
Josh Allen: DFS lock
Tyreek Hill: High ceiling WR1
James Cook: Solid RB value
Dalton Kincaid/Dawson Knox: Sleeper TE picks
Buffalo D/ST: Reliable play against Miami
